Every four years, the Burnsville Council directs staff to collect information regarding the opinions of the residential and business communities through statistically valid surveys. The next survey will be conducted in 2020.
Since 1987, these surveys have been conducted by market and research firm The Morris Leatherman Company (formerly Decision Resources, Ltd), a nationally-recognized polling firm located in Minneapolis.
The Morris Leatherman Company conducts surveys via landline telephone and cell phone, randomly selecting 400 residents and 300 business owners/managers. Questions range from the quality, importance and satisfaction with City departments and services to opinions on crime, property maintenance and traffic.
The Morris Leatherman Company validates survey results as projectable to all residents with an accuracy of plus or minus five percent in 95 out of 100 cases.
Minnesota Statue 471.701 requires that a city or county with a population of more than 15,000 must annually notify its residents of the positions and base salaries of its three highest paid employees. The City of Burnsville’s titles and salaries as of January 1, 2021 are: City Manager: $177,138; Fire Chief: $168,471; PW Director: $168,471.
