Night to Unite

Mark your calendar: Tuesday, Aug. 5Night to Unite

Night to Unite (known as National Night Out in some communities) is held annually on the first Tuesday in August.

Night to Unite gives neighbors the opportunity to get together, get to know one another, heighten awareness of crime, drug and violence prevention, and strengthen community partnerships.

Night to Unite is sponsored by the Minnesota Crime Prevention Association.

Register Your Party

Registration for 2025 has concluded.

Want a visit from  Burnsville Police, Fire, City staff or elected officials? Be sure to register your Night to Unite party by July 25 to request a visit. Parties registered after this date can still stop by City Hall to pick up supplies to share with neighbors at your gathering!

You may request a yard sign during registration to help neighbors easily find your gathering. Barricade tape is also available to help manage any road closures for your event.

Party Organizing Tips

  • Make it a group effort: Get a few neighbors involved in the planning to make it easy and fun for everyone
  • Neighborhood Watch Groups: If your block participates in Neighborhood Watch consider teaming up with nearby blocks for a bigger event
  • Spread the Word: Distribute invitations or flyers ahead of time so neighbors can save the date and plan to attend. Use our invitation template to get started
  • Fun For All: Keep the whole neighborhood in mind when planning your event. Include kid-friendly games or activities to help engage your youngest community members.
  • Give Back to the Community: looking for a meaningful addition to your event? consider holding a collection such as a food drive to support a local organization
