Water Recreation

• There are no specific City ordinances related to boating on Alimagnet Lake

• Lake traffic should travel in counter-clockwise directions
• Maximum watercraft speed from 9 a.m. to sunset: 40 miles per hour (MPH)
• Maximum watercraft speed from sunset to 9 a.m.: 15 MPH
• Maximum watercraft speed in Slow-No Wake Zones: 5 MPH
• Slow-No Wake Zones include: Maple Island Bay; Buck Hill Bay; 150 feet within shore (excludes Pik Nik Island); entire lake during high water conditions

• No motorboats or motorized vehicles (includes cars, trucks, snowmobiles, ATVs, etc.) allowed on lake
• During daytime hours (5 a.m. to 10 p.m.), motorboats and motorized vehicles powered by electric motors are allowed if they don't create excessive noise

• No motorized vehicles allowed (includes cars, trucks, snowmobiles, ATVs, etc.)
• Watercraft with a 5 horsepower engine or smaller are allowed during daytime hours (5 a.m. to 10 p.m.)
• No boating at night (10 p.m. to 5 a.m.)
• No remote control boats with internal combustion engines

• No electric trolling motors allowed
• To protect waterfowl nesting areas, no boating at all is allowed on the southern half of the lake (marked by buoys or signs)
• No motorboats or motorized vehicles (includes cars, trucks, snowmobiles, ATVs, etc.) powered by internal combustion engines
• During daytime hours (5 a.m. to 10 p.m.), motorboats and motorized vehicles powered by electric motors are allowed if they don't create excessive noise

Small lakes and ponds include any lake or pond totally in Burnsville which is 65 acres or less in size. (Excludes Alimagnet, Crystal, Keller and Lac Lavon.)
