Community Updates

February 18

One year following the loss of Police Officers Paul Elmstrand and Matthew Ruge and Firefighter/Paramedic Adam Finseth, killed in the line of duty on Sunday, Feb. 18 2024, the Burnsville community continues to heal. We know that people want to continue to express their shared grief and provide support; this page is intended to provide resources for residents, media and others.

We thank the community for their prayers, support and shared grief, which have uplifted our police and fire teams throughout this difficult year.

Fundraiser to Send Burnsville Fire and Police to National Memorials

Paul and Matt's names will be added to the Law Enforcement National Memorial and Adam's to the National Firefighter Memorial in Washington DC this spring. The MN Fraternal Order of Police Foundations has organized a fundraiser to help cover travel expenses for Burnsville police and fire personnel and their families to attend the National Memorials on May 15th.
