The cross country ski trails were built and are maintained for the public’s use and enjoyment by the City of Burnsville Parks and Recreation Department. The ski season usually begins in mid-to-late December, weather permitting. At least five to six inches of packed snow is needed before trails can open.

Terrace Oaks Park is home to three groomed ski trails. Traversing them requires some stamina and skiing experience. All of the trails wind through heavily wooded and hilly terrain. Walkers, snowshoers, skijorers and dogs are not permitted on the groomed ski trails at Terrace Oaks. Non-skiers and dogs on leashes are welcome on Terrace Oaks’ ungroomed trail.
The three groomed trails at Alimagnet Park are relatively flat and are considered easier trails great for those new to the sport. All trails at Alimagnet are multi-use and welcome cross-country skiers, walkers, snowshoers, skijorers and dogs on leashes.
Enjoy nature with a variety of cross-country ski trails at Rudy L. Kraemer Nature Preserve. Trails can be accessed from the park entrance at 12800 Chowen Ave. South.
