Watershed Management Organizations
Burnsville is unique in that it contains portions of three different Watershed Management Organizations, the Black Dog Watershed Management Organization, the Vermillion River Joint Powers Organization, and the Lower Minnesota River Watershed District. The Watershed Management Organization map (PDF) shows the extent of the three Water Management Organizations within Burnsville.
Black Dog Watershed Management Organization
The City of Burnsville participates with the cities of Apple Valley, Lakeville, Eagan and Savage on the Black Dog Water Management Organization (BDWMO).
The organization is active with surface water management issues in the areas of these cities covered by the BDWMO. The BDWMO covers 17,730 acres or 27.7 square miles and 72% of the watershed lies within the City of Burnsville. Please follow the link on the right for more information about the Black Dog Watershed Management Organization.
